Great 3-State
by John Beverly, CBC President 2000-2001
If you missed
this one, you missed a good one! We had nearly 500 riders. We owe a big thanks to the 3-State 3-Mountain committee, Walt
Burgoyne, Larry English, David Ward, Tom Ingledew, Hugh and Daisy, Steve Strain, and Steve West. I
especially want to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of Tom Ingledew. He designed the
T-shirt, which is very cool and just plain worked his butt off running the SAGs, maybe the
best we have ever had at an event. Also Steve West who lent us his professional talents to
design the new 3-State 3-Mountain
logo. And as usual, Daisy and Hugh who always put in more than their share of hard work,
with a special acknowledgment to Hugh for acquiring the sponsorship with Clarion and Daisy
for putting together the jersey design. Also a big thanks to the Coneheads, Bill Parsons
and Ashby Ward, for endangering their lives by putting
out cones so the bikes could safely traverse the toe of Lookout. And Steve and Pam Thomas,
thank you, for sitting in the hot sun all day and shooting pictures as well as lending
their new F-150 to the cause. Other savers of the day were Leigh Ward and Pat Burgoyne.
Team Peggy volunteers added to the great sag stops and the motercyclists, Eddie Rahm, Eric
Lee, and Dylan Mantooth helped with things out on the road.
Next year
this event will be even bigger and better. Ideas and suggestions are being bounced around
already. We'll need a little more help to pull it off, so please be prepared to give a
little of your time or tallents.
Once again,
Thank you very much to all who made this one of the most successful events in the history
of the great Chattanooga Bicycle Club. If you have any suggestions comments or complaints,
please call me at 876-1325 or e-mail ChattBike@aol.com
