New Faces
by John Beverly, CBC President 2000-2001
We will have a few new people filling our
officer ranks this year. Bill Rogers will be stepping down from many excellent years as the Vice President in charge of Mountain Biking
and Mike Walsh will replace him
for 2001. Tom Ingledew will
replace Mike as the road bike coordinator for this year. Please give each of them your full support and cooperation.
We still need for a Vice President in charge of Road Biking.
There are two primary responsibilities for this position. The first duty is ultimate
coordination of the two major road bike events; Three State Three Mountain Challenge and
the Two for One Century. The second duty is general oversight of day to day road bike
issues, such as, ensuring weekly rides are scheduled that include all levels of riders and
solving problems that involve road biking as they present themselves. If you feel you have
the ability to fill this position, please contact me as soon as possible.
I would also like to find someone to fill
the secretary position. This
position will reduce the workload that Daisy is now bearing and fill a gap in the tracking
of phone numbers and contact lists and other details that make management of the bike club
more efficient. This position would include keeping track of details of meetings,
especially those important meetings that involve details of the four major events that we
hold each year and maintaining a file of procedures and previous contacts. It would
involve other basic secretarial matters such as mailing, faxing, sending out mass e-mails
and running a few errands. The secretary would need to attend most meetings. If you feel
you have the ability to fill this position, please contact me as soon as possible.
These jobs may pay as much as $100,000 a
year. Please read the fine print below for details.
We had a great time at Daisy and Hugh's
house this year for the annual Christmas party. We had prizes and food and good beverages
and fellowship and even a little strip spin the bottle. Now don't you wish you would've
been there? Joan Thompson won all the prizes, so we had to do something for fun for
everyone else. Several people got all the way down to bare feet then Daisy had to stop it
since the house was starting to take on a peculiar foot odor. Thanks Daisy and Hugh for
once again letting us invade your home. We enjoyed it very much.
We will have a special meeting on March 6. Please
plan to attend. Keep track of the web site and
the next newsletter for details and a location. For 2001 we will hold the monthly bike
club meetings on the first Tuesday of the month. There will be a few months (April, May, July, October) in which the
meeting may be held prior to your receiving the newsletter, so be prepared to attend on
the first Tuesday of the month. The location of the regular meetings is yet to be decided, but we hope
to find a place where we can fellowship and have dinner in a private or semi private
atmosphere. We need everyone to attend, including mountain bikers. If you have any
suggestions please contact me.
If you have any comments, suggestions or
need to contact me, please call 876-1325 or e-mail ChattBike@aol.com.
Fine Print: To qualify for the

to reach a speed of 45 miles an hour on flat ground on a road bike. Must be able to climb
Clemmer trail in less than 10 minutes. Must have won the Tour de France at least twice.
Must have all of your hair. (sorry Tom B.) Must not have foot odor. Chattanooga Bike Club
is an equal opportunity employer.
