Cars

By the BeRZeRKeR & Joe The Advocate

Here in my car
I feel safest of all
I can lock all my doors
It's the only way to live
In cars

Here in my car,
I have to work one entire day every week
To pay for the car and the gas and the insurance and the maintenance and the taxes
Then I can take my place in line
Behind cars

Here in my car
I spend four solid years of my life
I know I only live once
Why not stare at the road
From cars

Here in my car
Which produces 7.8 tons of poison gas every year
I can roll down the window
When the guy in front chokes me out
With his car

Here in my car
I can run over small, harmless creatures
Like rabbits, skunks, possums, squirrels, cats and dogs
They should learn to avoid two ton, 70 mph predators
Traveling along the 3.9 million miles of pavement
Built for cars

Here in my car,
Which, during its manufacture, consumed 100,000 gallons of water
And 4,000,000 BTU’s of energy
And 3,500 pounds of metal
I can go to the mall at my convenience
In my car

Here in my car
I know I've started to think
About leaving tonight
Although nothing seems right
In cars

I know I’ve started to think
I know I’ve started to think

To drive a car or not to drive a car…that is the question.

Did you know that there are currently 600 million cars worldwide and 35,000 more are added daily?

Did you know the auto industry bought out the nations cable/trolley car operations and methodically closed them down? Would you ride a trolley/cable car if it were run efficiently and convenient?

Did you know that the average American car spews out more than 212 pounds of pollutants into the air a week? A WEEK!!!!

Would you ride your bike for short trips if the streets were more bike friendly? Imagine looking down on a large intersection clogged with cars and trucks…. take the vehicles away and leave the people...lots of room, lots of space.

Are cars jewelry? We think diamonds are expensive… Where did our identities as being reflected in our cars come from? Did I say identity, I meant our insecurities. Ever heard of a wealthy person who drives a clunker…how do you react, with confusion or respect?
What if they rode a bike to work…. what would you think?

Ever leave Chattanooga by plane?
Next time take note of how much space is being used to let cars move around, then notice how much space is used to let them park.

We can scan our hands and fax or email that image, within seconds, ANYWHERE in this fine world! Yet, we as humans have not developed a better way to propel ourselves around than with oil?????
Doesn’t that seem kind of odd??????
I mean think about it…Oil is such a pain for so many reasons. Why? Do you mean to tell me that no one has come up with an infinite propulsion device…using magnets or something? It’s hard to believe.

What if, instead of a seatbelt fastener sound, we had a recording reminding us that our cars spew out an average of 212 pounds of pollution in the air weekly… would you climb out and ride your bike to the video store? Videos carry easily on a bike.

Or would you rather live your life in your CAR?
