Tonight's annual CBC was filled with fun, food, friends and festivities - all organized by our wonderful Social Chairman Lou Pape - what a Chairmeister he is. And, as we all pat our tummies and burp and think about our fun evening, he and Cindy must still be cleaning up all the equipment they brought.
The evening was especially significant to me - because I was included with 3 other prominent CBC members - for the first David Meek Award. I am still in awe as I look at my gift bag which says DAVID MEEK AWARD - Carol Zitzow.
It is such an honor to have my name associated with David's in this award . It brings up his spirit, his zest - his very persona.
In addition, it is wonderful to be associated with the other recipients - Tom Jamison, Sydney Roberts, Dick Dahike.
My thought of David, perhaps, is similar to wearing a pair of shoes donated/gifted to me - - -awesome shoes, but just a tad too big - - - I know it b/c my feet are sloshing - - - - and sometimes it's hard to keep the shoes on. But - - happily the giver of the shoes is in front of me - - he wants me to wear them -- and grow into them - and realize there is something extra down the road.
And - - as we go down the road, I think he will check to see if all is well with me.
And I know - - - he will keep me in his mirror.
Yes, that was David.
