This year there are only 2 host towns: Staunton and Harrisonburg. This means less time moving around - probably more time on the bike. They are in the process of finalizing the routes.

Several CBC folks have attended Bike Virginia and usually return with glowing reports. I have biked some areas around Harrisonburg and Staunton - absolutely beautiful country with views of mountains and some hills.

From their website: "Bike Virginia is an annual bicycle tour. We travel around the state to a new spot each year. Riders will enjoy an average of 50 miles of riding per day for 5 days. We'll also give you a century option on one day of the tour. Cyclists can camp or book reservations in an official Bike Virginia hotel. Evening entertainment and other non-riding activities are available."

Red Bank ride is appx. 27 miles; meet at the 'old BiLo parking lot' on Dayton Blvd. Intermediate level; usually 15-19 mph. This is an ideal ride for building endurance for longer weekend rides, general fitness, weekly miles, as well as a good recovery ride for more advanced folks.

If you are a 20+ mph rider, we will try to identify others at the same level so you can ride ahead as a separate group. The 15-19 mph group has 5 brief stops round trip.

If you have never ever ridden the Red Bank ride, for your comfort and the benefit of all other riders, please contact me beforehand for more details. We'll better be able to accommodate your needs/interests.

See you then!
