This year there are only 2 host towns: Staunton and Harrisonburg. This means less time moving around - probably more time on the bike. They are in the process of finalizing the routes.

Several CBC folks have attended Bike Virginia and usually return with glowing reports. I have biked some areas around Harrisonburg and Staunton - absolutely beautiful country with views of mountains and some hills.

From their website: "Bike Virginia is an annual bicycle tour. We travel around the state to a new spot each year. Riders will enjoy an average of 50 miles of riding per day for 5 days. We'll also give you a century option on one day of the tour. Cyclists can camp or book reservations in an official Bike Virginia hotel. Evening entertainment and other non-riding activities are available."

Ride begins at 6pm

This ride is geared towards helping new riders and returning riders develop their skills, strength and stamina. The ride route may vary slightly each week but it will be in the Moccasin Bend Hospital/White Oak-Red Bank area; ride distance is from 5 to 20 miles depending who comes; but no one will be left behind!.

Ride leader is Kelvin Hale (423) 842-8306; there will also be an additional helper as a sweep rider.

We'll meet in the Hospice parking lot a large paved parking lot on Hamm Road, across from Friends of the Festival.
.
Directions: take Manufacturer's Road Exit (1st exit northbound over Olgiatti Bridge) and turn left (west) going under hwy 27; go about 1/2 mile and road will curve left, in front of ROADTEC and become Hamm Rd. About 1/8 mile on the right -- across from Friends of the Festival -- is our meeting place, a paved parking area with a Hospice sign at the entrance.
