Undercover Chattanooga Bicycle Scavenger Hunt

Chattanooga Off-the-Map Downtown City Search

May 2, 2004
(The Sunday after the 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge)

Featuring Chattanooga's little known treasures

The challenge will be a a fun-for-all bicycle (and skate) based scavenger hunt that will begin near the Cricket Pavilion - the site of the 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge - and end at an undisclosed destination  in downtown Chattanooga. Along the way cyclists will be visiting less well-known attractions and hidden treasures of downtown Chattanooga. At each location there will be clues, puzzles, and mental mysteries to engage and entertain while you enjoy a fun 2-3 hours discovering Chattanooga's less touristed side.

When someone thinks of Chattanooga's attractions, you immediately think of Rock City, Ruby Falls, the Tennessee Aquarium, The Chattanooga Choo Choo and the many other well advertised tourist attractions around town. But what about the ____ and the ____? Some of our most attractive and interesting places and structures are not the ones you read about in the vacation guides. In order to introduce our out-of-town guests for the 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge and our local folks, who don't get downtown all that often or who just want to have a really fun time, Mike Pollack of the Adventure Guild, a corporate team building company, is putting together the ‘Chattanooga Off-the-Map' Downtown City Search.

2002 Winning TeamTeams of three or four riders of all abilities on any type of bike or in-line skates will follow a trail of clues to various off-the-map sites within the downtown area. A few of the more well known sites may be mixed in as well, but even the locals may find a place they never knew existed. Once you find one site, you look for clues to the next site. It may be a puzzle, a riddle, a task, or who knows what. It’s up to the team to figure it out.

If you don’t have a team, don’t worry. We will match yoBikers, Skaters & Scootersu up to one. Just show up at the Cricket Pavilion site well before 12:00 on Sunday, May 2 (the day after the 3-State). You will leave from there at 12:00 and end at — who knows where. There will be some prizes, some discoveries, and a guaranteed good time for all.

This event is free and open to all with a bike or in-line skates and a helmet. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. This is part of the Bike It and Like It program.

PS: Helmets are required.

See you there…
