CBC General Meeting MinutesNovember 15, 20041 AttendanceThe meeting was held at the Downtown YMCA. Introductions were made and welcome was extended to all old and new members in attendance. 2 BusinessGeneralThe minutes for the October 2004 meeting were reviewed and approved. Mountain Biking and Trail WorkDaisy Blanton announced the CBC has been awarded a Trail work kit by REI/ IMBA. Several tools and supplies are included in the kit. CBC hopes to increase mountain biking and trail building activities in the coming months, and plans to put these tools to good use. It was announced that night riding on the GUILD Trail will be suspended until permission is granted by the Parks Department. Alternative locations for rides are being explored. BRAT 2005BRAT (Bike Ride Across TN) will begin and end in Chattanooga in 2005. CBC is tentatively planning to act as the host Club for this event. Bylaws Committee ReportBylaws Committee Report was given by David Blackwell and George Perry. Mr. Blackwell explained $1000.00 has already been approved by the club for Attorney fees and related expenses such as follow up for 501 status. An additional $625.00 was requested to cover expenses for establishment of CBC as a 501 C3. This was approved by unanimous membership vote. He reported that Incorporation has been filed and the process is in progress. George Perry made a motion that the bylaws document (CBC-Bylaws-Revl-Nov04.pdf) posted on www.chattbike.com dated Nov. 15, 2004 be approved for implementation on January 1, 2005. This was seconded and approved by all members present. The purchase of Surety for the Treasurer as required by Bylaws Article III, Finances, Section 5 was also approved by membership vote (maximum $200.00). DonationsA Donation of $3000.00 to the Marion Co. Food Bank was approved by the membership. (The Sequatchie Valley Century was held in part as a fundraiser for this organization). The membership also approved a $1000.00 contribution to the Chattanooga Food Bank. Martin Penny gave a report on a proposal initiated by the CBC Board to participate in the Santa For All Seasons project by donating bicycles and helmets. He spoke with a representative from this organization and was told of a set of three siblings who all have bicycles on their “wishlist” for Christmas. The membership voted to donate a maximum of $500.00 toward the purchase of bikes and helmets for these children. A press release will be coordinated by Daisy Blanton, Communications Director. Christmas Party in January/Annual MeetingThe CBC Annual Meeting/ Christmas Party will be held January 15, 2005 at a Warehouse located in near-by Trenton, GA, and owned by Randy Lawson, CBC Member. Details are forthcoming. Nominating Committee ReportA Nominating Committee report was given by David Blackwell. The committee will be Chaired by Wendy Richardson. David Blackwell, Kelvin Hale, Dean POI, Morgan Fraley, and Todd Duff will serve. A proposed slate of officers for 2005 is anticipated December 10. New Event - The Cohutta MetricJohn Karr and Andy Lopez announced a new event, the Cohutta Metric will be held in mid-April, 2005. This event has evolved from previous events coordinated by the Cohutta Volunteer Fire Dept. as a fundraiser. It will not be a CBC sponsored event, but will serve as a training ride for the 3 State 3 Mountain and will be supported by the membership. New Jersey OrderAmy French reported the New Jersey/ Socks order is slated to be in Dec 15. All were encouraged to pay in advance and secure arrangements if they wish their purchases to be mailed.
