CBC Executive Board
Meeting Minutes
May 10, 2004
1 Attendance
The meeting was held at China Lee
restaurant, 6:00 p.m. Those in attendance were: Steve Strain, President; David
Ward, Events Coordinator; Jim Johnson, Ride Coordinator; Amy French, Secretary;
George Perry, Treasurer; Daisy Blanton, Communications Director; and Tim
Carlfeldt, V.P. of Mountain Biking and SORBA Chapter president.
2 Business
SORBA
Tim Carlfeldt introduced a
discussion regarding his wishes and intent to separate the Chattanooga SORBA
Chapter from CBC. He stated he felt this was in the best interest of SORBA,
as several “core members” were not happy with CBC, and he felt their support
would be lost if current CBC/SORBA affiliation continued. Tim stated his intent
to move on this immediately. Several Board Members expressed concern that the
overall SORBA membership has not been offered the opportunity to offer input and
express their desires in regard to this manner. It was determined that further
discussion would be solicited at the General Membership Meeting, scheduled for
May 17, 2004.
Events Report
An update on the Three State Three
Mountain Event was provided by David Ward. A partial list of itemized expenses
was presented (see attached). Steve Strain suggested that, as CBC realized
significant revenue from this event, donations be made not only to Bethel
Children’s Home, but to other supporting entities as well. Those specifically
mentioned were the Ham Radio Club, New Home Volunteer Rescue Squad, and the
Church on Sand Mountain for SAG support. Once David and the Events Committee
address all the financial matters, determination will be made as to how the
profits will be distributed.
Treasurer's Report
Treasurer George Perry led a brief
discussion regarding the need for a Budget for CBC ongoing expenses, and for
Events expenses. This will be addressed in the coming months.
Bylaws
The issue of updating CBC Bylaws
was discussed. David Blackwell, Martin Penny, Amy French, and Chris Newton will
be approached to solicit their willingness to work on this project. The
committee members will be determined in the next several days so that work on
this project will commence as soon as possible.
CBC Merchandise
Miscellaneous items briefly
discussed were Tailwind review, the possibility of CBC selling blanket-throws
with CBC logo, possible selling of a Bob Rolle Tour de France book (these items
were sent to the club by a marketing firm as a courtesy, to possibly solicit
interest), and new CBC Jerseys and other clothing items.
Meeting Schedule
It was determined monthly Board
meetings will be held the first Monday of each month. The next meeting was
scheduled for June 7, 2004. Place and time to be announced.
With no further business to attend
to, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Amy French
